Color grading pt. 2

 How I color graded my red-light scene’s

similarly to my warm lighting clips I wanted to make the quality better of the videos took, I also wanted to make the clips darker to make the switch in emotion from warm, sweet, and comforting to anxious, fearful, and powerful vibe that Nova has once Damien is unconscious. Color grading the red clips compared to the normal lighting clips was very hard for me because i not only had to edit the lighting and saturation like i did in the other clips, but I also had to use the curves with I expressed was very hard for me to do without messing up the lighting. I explained in my last blog post that every time would move the curve it would make the lighting different then I would like it to be. I used chat GPT to teach me how to color grades in adobe specifically with my clip. I used chat GPT because I tried YouTube tutorials, but they were WAY different lighting and color way then had so it did not work. Here are the settings I used:

  • - Saturation 125.9 to make the red light more present while keeping the tone in my hair and clothing.

  • - Exposure –0.9 to make the clips brighter since all the lights are off, and the only light was the red gel light.

  • - Contrast 25.9 to make the character stand out and not blend in with the red.

  • - Whites –18.5 making the darker aspect instead of a happy bright vibe.

Curve

  • - For shadows I pulled it down because I wanted to add darker elements to make the thriller feel.

  • - Mid-tone, I left how it was.

  • - Highlights I brought up to make the shadows more obnoxious and standout.
